Veneers are thin restorations made of composite filling material or porcelain that cover the outer surface of the teeth to improve esthetics. Teeth that are discolored, rotated or chipped are all candidates to have veneers. In our office, we will recommend either composite or porcelain veneers for our patients. The main advantage to a veneer over a full crown is that there is a minimal amount of enamel removed for the restoration. Some veneer cases can even be done with no removal of tooth structure.
All veneer cases in our office begin with a smile analysis appointment to make sure the situation is ideal for the treatment. Other factors that can impact a veneer case are uneven gums, grinding habits, heavily restored teeth and how one’s teeth fit together.
